Welcome Baby Danilo!

Danilo Roeper Azcarate born November 3, 2006 at 6:50 AM. At birth he weighed 7lbs and 6.5ozs and was 20.25 inches long.

His birth was pretty smooth. Maria and I watched ER on Thursday Night - she was complaining a bit about being uncomfortable but she put on her IPOD to listen to her hypnobirthing affirmations and went to sleep. She woke me up at about 2:00 AM - and let me know that she thought she was in labor. (hmmm, I knew i should have packed that bag earlier!).

Together we timed surges (contractions) and realized they were about 5 minutes apart and pretty regular. We called our Dr. who thought we should go to the hospital.

By the time we got to the Hospital it was about 4:00 AM (we kind of took our time, packing a bag, gathering some things, making some calls etc.). Maria was really feeling uncomfortable at this point. While she was waiting to be examined she was crawling around the waiting room trying to find a more comfortable position to be in.

She was finally examined at about 4:50 AM - the nurse examining her was surprised (as were we) that she was already about 8-9 CM dialated. They efficiently moved us to a labor and delivery room and after two hours of wonderful birthing work - Danilo was born!

    Congratulations on your new addition! I suppose Danilo heard Prof. Ifill planning the party in CivPro, and decided he wanted to be there too. Hope you get a long-deserved rest and plan a triumphant return to Law School... our expert law firm needs you!

    Am so happy for you both. That was quick work for the first baby. We are delighted that all is well. It will truly be a great Thanksgiving with Danilo to share in the festivities. Hope to get a chance to see you all sometime.

    WOW...It is so true that great things happen to great people. Danilo could have not picked a set of folks to be his parents. If he could give a victory speech, it would sound something like this... "First giving honor to God who strengthens me... to my parents who loved me even before I was born, to My Mom for her care, love and intellect, and to my Dad for passing down his wide receiver skills..blah blah blah"....lol I am so happy for y'all. The news was announced to the entire group at the same as I heard the news and amid cheers and tears Danilo was greeted with a standing ovation of nearly 35 people. The tears of joy were mine. Danilo arrived at time when this country will hopefully see a change in direction where he can look forward to a fruitful future. I feel as though I have already met and held my great grandson with his warm little body practically in my arms.     KARIBU! Welcome Danilo! We are glad you are here! This is truly wonderful news and way, way tops Rumsfeld's resignation. Congratulations Fred & Maria! In Njoki's tradition Danilo is of the same Rika (age group) as our nephew Kendi who was born in the UK on September 23. This is not a small thing, will explain it to both of them when they are older.
